Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior representative said the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
